Laura & Theo // Wedding

Laura & Theo really know how to throw a good celebration. They planned an entire weekend getaway for their guests at Zajac Ranch-it was a mini destination wedding, just an hour and a bit out of Vancouver & down a dusty road. On Friday night, the guests were welcomed with a BBQ dinner & two kinds of beer, followed by an evening of poetry, song & story by the fireside.

She was up early the next day, strolling through the ranch roads in the morning coolness to the songs of the birds. Whether it was the call of the rooster or pure excitement that woke her, she was up & she was ready to get married.

Everything about Laura & Theo’s day was incredibly beautiful & moving. She walked into their ceremony to the soaring theme of Amélie & he smiled, watching her. Friends and siblings read prayers and poetry and he kissed her on the cheek during some singing. They shared their first kiss as husband & wife and Theo threw in a little post-kiss dance-his joy was uncontainable.

We loved that Laura & Theo weren’t afraid to break tradition with their wedding & shake things up a bit. They skipped the signing of the registry for a family prayer, chose to have a cake made of Brie (Laura is a cheese aficionado) instead of one covered in fondant, planned time in the day for guests to play sports, go for a swim, or relax in the shade, and Theo chose to have a Best Woman (his Sister) instead of a Best Man. Laura & Theo love (that’s an understatement) dancing & they hired an amazing band to play at their wedding. There is just something so good about live bands at weddings-the air was electric as the guests danced to Proud Mary & props from the photo booth became dancing accessories. It was a weekend we won’t soon forget: so full of joy, laughter, dance & celebration. The way a wedding should be.

Laura & Theo’s wedding was published with Heirloom Magazine.
