Alanna & Scott // Portraits
I love this job.
I love couples from Vancouver Island.
I love how most of my Vancouver Island brides seem to become e-mail pen pals. Alanna is one of them. Every couple of weeks or so one of us sits down at her computer and types out a letter talking about life, talking about weddings, talking about the wisteria or whales we expect to see on Galiano Island in May when Alanna & Scott tie the knot, talking about everything. It always brightens my day when I see an e-mail from Alanna pop up because I know it’s going to make me laugh and smile.
Scott grew up in the Deep Cove area of Vancouver Island, pretty close to the ferry terminal in Schwartz Bay. We hopped on the ferry from Vancouver and they picked us up and took us to a little pub where three of us had beers and one of us had a coke (I’m trying to like beer… it’s a process, okay?). Then, we drove over to a spot off the beaten track- a beautiful little cove full of rocks & Arbutus trees. An outdoor playground. We walked the length of the beach, climbed a hill, and ignored a no-tresspassing sign (we were only 15 feet into the property-the grassy cliff was just too pretty to pass up!).
Meet Alanna & Scott. The first time I ever saw a picture of them was on their digital save-the-date, where confetti rained across the screen and announced their engagement. I was sold. Graeme was sold. There will also be confetti at the wedding. Can’t wait.
