#TheNickersonsCelebrate Day 07

Wow! It has been an incredible week with all these giveaways and the amazing businesses and artisans that we’ve been lucky to have partnered with us in our website launch celebration!

Today marks the final day of our giveaway spree. And we’re giving away a Choose Your Own Adventure shoot with us!

What is a Choose Your Own Adventure shoot? It’s a type of shoot we’ve created for adventurous couples—couples who want photos of themselves but want more candid and photojournalistic imagery versus standard posed portraits.

You can do anything on a Choose Your Own Adventure shoot. We’ve gone ATVing, picnicking, and hiking. You could go to the amusement park, you could do a road trip, you could kayak along the Sunshine Coast, you could helicopter into the backcountry, you could go sailing—the world is your oyster and we’re more than game to come along for the fun and document your incredible day.

One couple (dating/engaged/married etc) will win a half day Choose Your Own Adventure shoot with The Nickersons. This includes all of your photographs as digital files—print ’em, share ’em, love ’em. Valued at $750.

This giveaway is now closed! The winners will be notified via e-mail by the evening of June 2nd. Thanks for entering!

We’re running this giveaway for the rest of the week so you have a chance to think about your adventure and enter! It will close on Friday May 30th at 10am PST. The winners will be contacted by the evening of June 2nd. This giveaway is open to international residents. If our travel for your Choose Your Own Adventure shoot includes a plane flight, we will upgrade your shoot to a full day adventure for free!

The Fine Print: i. Your shoot will be scheduled at the discretion of The Nickersons. We will work with you to pick a date, but it will have to work with our busy weekend schedule as well; it’s important that you understand the need to be flexible and patient. ii. Any adventure activities beyond the Metro Vancouver area will incur travel fees (custom quoted). iii. Any adventure activities that incur admission, ferry, lift ticket, etc fees are to be paid for by the winner for The Nickersons.

  1. THIS contest is too fun!! I would adore recreating my first date with my boyfriend (Matt) from 9 years ago. I’m an artist and he is a musician, we decided that it would be fun to do a painting/guitar date- I brought over paint and canvas to his little apartment and he had an extra guitar. I remember that he painted his canvas totally orangey-yellow and then started to paint in black bits by the time I had painted a pretty little nature scene…he gave up and decided to show me his talents instead. He was good- very very good…after a few plunks by me on his strings he took the guitar off my hands and played for me for the remainder of the evening (SWOON). We sort of decided afterwards to leave each to their own talents and enjoy each other’s creativity! I love that both of us completely adore each others gifts and encourage creativity daily. To create with each other again would make for a very nostalgic (somewhat competitive) but very fun day and we would love the opportunity to do this with The Nickersons! *fingers crossed*

My husband, Michael, and I met while filming an independent movie with people I barely knew at the time (but one of which is now married to my sister)in Whistler. He was a theatre major and I a theatre minor in university and we’ve both turned our love of drama and literature into careers as teachers. We both enjoy dressing up (we have participated in Carnival in Trinidad, in full costume, twice) and are suckers for any type of dress up event. Michael proposed to me in the very spot we filmed that movie in Whistler and we were married almost 2 years ago. Although Whistler is monumentally important to us, if we won the “choose your own adventure” I would like to go to our favorite park, Rocky Point, in Port moody where there is a some old architecture that reminds me of European ruins and you can only reach it when the tide is out. We stumbled across it during one of our many walks there and I have always been mesmerized by its existence. I have never been 100% satisfied with the photos of the two of us during our wedding day, and getting to know you the last couple years I’ve always wished we had known about you back when we were engaged. Here’s hoping!

Hi Nickersons!! For a choose-your-own-adventure-shoot we would love to have you capture our favourite hike in deep cove, up to Quarry Rock. Travis and I have been together for seven years and left our beloved west coast almost two years ago to try out life in the Big Smoke. And while the East has proven wild, hectic, inspiring and abundantly energizing there is nothing that would be better than to breathe in that beautiful salt air and have it captured on film to remind us when we’re back in the bustle of this new city of ours. xo

We are sooo excited for this contest (maybe me more).

Denis and I met in grade 12 English and I was immediately smitten by his boyish charm (and annoyed by his lack of interest in class — he sat across me and his eyes kept twinkling!) and caring personality. We always had an active lifestyle and love being outdoors (except for the Grouse Grind — he loves it. Honestly, who does that?). We love hiking, taking long walks and snowshoeing, and it would be sooo amazing to win the ‘Choose your own Adventure Package’ and have you both join us for some fun in the snow and snowshoe around Cypress. We grew up together this past 7 years and recently got engaged. Now we’re sooooo excited to grow old together and really start our own adventures. It would be lovely to have this opportunity and showcase your stunning images in our first home!

    Hello Nickersons!
I LOVE these giveaways!!!! My husband and I will be married for three years this summer and although we go do all sorts of adventures we rarely ever get phtos of us together doing these things together! Our adventure would be an early morning (please don’t be scarred!) I want a sunrise hike, and it’ll b tough because we will push mountain bikes so that we can ride down! This adventure photo shoot day would be amazing if it could happen on our 3rd year anniversary. At the top of the mountain we would re-read our vows to each other and remember highs and lows of the past 3 years 🙂 Definitely more highs!
    Thanks for the contests!!!

Ah! This is so great! My boyfriend Terry and I have been together for 4 years. We met in Hawaii while I was on vacation and he was working at the hotel we stayed at. All the stars aligned and we were able to hang out (on my birthday, bonus!). We spent all night laughing and taking on a blanket on Waikiki beach. We kept in contact and I went back a few months later to visit. It was then we decided to make the leap of faith to begin a long distance relationship. 2 years later, he was able to come to Victoria to pursue his Masters and we were finally able to be together. Being that we met in Hawaii, our love for beaches has found it’s way here and we love exploring the west coast beaches together with our golden retriever, Brady. The adventure that we would like to go on is the beaches along the Juan De Fuca Trail out in Sooke. We spent our anniversary exploring China Beach and Mystic Beach (the one where a waterfall literally falls on to the sand next to the shore!) I would love to be able to have that place documented as our adventure. Crossing our fingers!!

Nathan and I met as I was travelling in New Zealand and this Canadian girl fell in love. He was first much to shy to even say hi to me! At the it was simoly a summer attraction and I left and came back to Canada. However, we kept talking and found out that we actually had alot in common. As I am half Cook Island I ended up moving to New Zealand and going to university. But before you count me out of this giveaway I am coming back in June and brining Nathan with me to share the beauty of Canada! As we are both adventurous this would be such an amazing way to caputre our time in Canada as well as the place I call home with the man I love xx

Love this Lydia! Would love to know more specifically about the adventure you imagine going on–a hike into the back-country, an afternoon kayaking around the sunshine coast, a sailing lesson, etc, and where you’d love for it to happen. 🙂 Can’t wait to hear the rest!

we’ve been married for almost 2 years and don’t go on as many adventures as we’d like, so this sounds like fun! we like camping & i love warm weather and food, so i am now imagining a casual hike or canoe trip in the summer on the sunshine coast or up near squamish (anywhere close-ish to vancouver that is also beautiful and more nature than city) with sandwiches and wine and/or coffee packed with us! or we could prepare our favorite camping meal (which is a whole salmon stuffed with dill, lemons & salt, wrapped in tinfoil and cooked over a campfire) and devour it. we would also probably play uno or some kind of card game on a picnic blanket while drinking coffee and making fun of each other. 🙂 on the flip side, i would be happy with an adventure consisting of going for coffee in the city and exploring new areas of vancouver! but a nature adventure feels more epic i guess!

This is so exciting! We are already super stoked for our engagement shoot with you guys but if we had a CYOA shoot, we would love to wait until the winter and take you guys snow camping in the mountains completely unplug. We would build snow forts, play snow bocce, have snowball fights, go snowshoeing to gather firewood and build a big campfire where we would make s’mores. We would bring our fun, snow-loving dog, Koda along for the adventure because he LOVES the snow too!

    May 29, 2014

Hello Nickersons!! My dude and I have been together for 7 years. He popped the question this April, while doing a sunrise hike in Joshua Tree. He is my biggest support and I am over the moon with happiness knowing that I am going to be his wife. We met in the Visual Arts department, while doing our undergrad at UVic. As a couple, we balance laid-back and goofy. Most of our adventures together are chosen for their calming and visually pleasing properties, rather than any sort of competitive, high-risk experience. For those reasons, our perfect adventure would be driving out to one of the local farms (Abbortsford or Pemberton) and picking berries. There will be sun shining, birds chirping, and a lot of unrehearsed love gazing. xo

    This is OH.SO.COOL.

My boyfriend and I have been officially together for three years BUT I have known him for 20+ years.

Our mothers grew up spending the summers together in the Shuswap so when they bumped into each other at a drug store in Chase, B.C., him in a stroller and me proudly walking, we met and it was then, so he says, that he started his pursuit for me. It would be so special to go back to the People’s Drug Mart in Chase, BC for a photo shoot of the first place I ever met my true love.

We, too, live for the water – whether it be the ocean or a lake – and I think if scheduling wouldn’t work out for Chase, I would love to do a shoot by the water either cliff jumping or jumping off a dock.

This is such a neat contest. Thank you!

    May 29, 2014

    Hello Nickersons! (Love your work!)

Ryan and I just celebrated our 2 year dating anniversary and I think it would be so fun to explore/hike Golden Ears Park / Alouette Lake together. (Maybe go swimming too if the water is warm. Haha.) These last two years have been so much fun and I am so blessed to be able to hang out with my best friend. Together we’ve moved to a different country to attend ministry school together, overcome medical challenges and learned a lot about each other. Ryan is the funny, thoughtful and patient one – he’s the type of person who always knows what to say and he makes friends quickly. I’m the creative, soft spoken dreamer who laughs at everything Ryan says. Since I am the one always taking pictures, we don’t have many photos of us together unfortunately so this would be a very exciting contest to win. 😉

Thank you for putting this giveaway together and congratulations on your lovely new website/blog!

Denis and I met in aikido class over six years ago and starting hanging out together outside the dojo when we found out that we had other mutual interests (aside from throwing people on mats). We train in separate martial arts gyms today, but we still enjoy walking outdoors together in all weathers. For a photo shoot, we’d pick a lovely garden location like VanDusen Botanical Garden or a working farm like UBC. He also loves goats and I love him, so a photo shoot at a goat farm would also be nice. Thank you for this contest.

Derek and I are high school sweethearts. We met in a biology class and our story exploded into a beautiful one of great adventure. Fast forward through three different colleges and here we are, barely over one year into our marriage. It’s been a year of learning together, growing together, and exploring together. Currently en route to Colorado for a bluegrass music camp, and both ready for a new venture, we are always dreaming of what’s next. I love Derek for his patient spirit, his energetic bear hugs, his draw to adventure and new challenges, his silly voices, and for so much more. Derek is one to challenge you to a barefoot race through some open field. He’ll race you and win or race you and lose. Either way he’ll be laughing. I’m a Iowa girl, most always barefoot with messy hair. I love to bake and to make a mess of our tiny kitchen and I love seeing Derek snatch up whatever sweet I’ve created. We are kindred spirits and the very best of friends. Derek and I have always wanted to see Canada together, specifically Prince Edward Island. I went there as a young girl with my grandmother, and it was such a magical place. We’d love to explore the beaches and lighthouses together, to splash through the ocean waves, and to run across the red dirt and through the high grass. It would mean the world to me to have photographs of our adventures together.
